Over 70 persons were reportedly killed early Sunday morning when unknown gunmen attacked two villages near Chibok, Borno State. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. However, security sources revealed that the attacks bore the fingerprints of Boko Haram, the group that has been terrorizing Chibok and environs. The terrorist group has claimed responsible for the abduction, in mid-April, of over 200 school girls in Chibok. Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the villagers were on early Sunday morning greeted to heavy gunfire by several armed men riding in jeeps. “They killed everybody they saw- young and old, men and women. Thereafter they filled their trucks with livestock and food items belonging to the villagers,” a source offered. The gunmen, according to the sources, thereafter torched several buildings before escaping unchallenged.
