Dr. Ameyo Stella Adedavoh, the doctor who was the first to attend to Liberian-American Patrick Sawyer, has died. The death of Adadevoh, which occurred on Tuesday, has not yet been confirmed by Nigeria’s health authorities. But a source close to the Adadevoh confirmed her passing to SaharaReporters. Adedavoh becomes the fourth Nigerian to die from the virus, excluding Sawyer. She has gotten infected from Sawyer, and was on August 16 discharged from the Centre for Infectious Diseases Control, having apparently recovered from the disease. Dr. Adadevoh was endocrinologist at the First Consultant Hospital in Lagos who treated Mr. Sawyer as he was rushed from the airport in Lagos to her hospital. Her plight had led to a petition by colleagues and well-wishers urging U.S President Barack Obama for the U.S to release the experimental drug Zmapp for her treatment.

There seem to be no end to the crisis rocking the Nigerian Football Federation, as the Chief Mike Umeh-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board yesterday shunned the meeting convened by Alhaji Aminu Maigari, insisting that they won’t recognize his leadership. Chief Umeh had stormed the Glass House yesterday to deliver the resolutions of his faction to the Maigari-led board, stating emphatically that they won’t be part of the meeting presided over by Maigari. Among other resolutions in the unsigned one page paper, the Umeh faction stressed: “Aminu Maigari remains provisionally dismissed. The position of the NFF Executive Committee in respect to its recent decision remains unchanged. “The Executive Committee appreciates the efforts of the Hon. Minister of Sports at reconciling the football family. However, the advice of the Hon. Minister in asking Aminu Maigari to return to office is a clear violation of the NFF/CAF/FIFA statutes, as there are procedures to that effect.

The 23-man list of Super Eagles players released for the September AFCON 2015 qualifying matches by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for now remains without a coach. Ademola Olajire, Assistant Director, (Communications), while answering questions on the list confirmed that the Eagles will remain without a coach for now, as the federation is still working on terms of contract with Keshi. “It’s true a list was released yesterday by the NFF and I did my job by sending it out. The issue of who coaches the team will be decided by the federation but for now, there’s no coach for the Super Eagles.” He noted that though, the federation is in talks with Keshi on his new contract, it has not been decided if he would continue or not. Reason for this according to Olajire is that: “Keshi’s contract is still being worked on and until it is sorted out, it cannot be said that he would lead the team. The NFF will decide who leads the team to the matches against Congo DR and South Africa.”

Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has said the opposition All Progressive Congress ( APC) , cannot win a polling booth in the state in the 2015 general elections as the party ” does not exist in Abia”. Governor Orji who was reacting to a recent boasting by Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State who said APC would take over Abia in 2015, said Okorocha is suffering from acute malaria even as he advised him to seek medical examination. Okorocha who represented by his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere, had while addressing a stakeholders’ meeting of the South East chapter of APC held in Umuahia , said APC would sack PDP from the seat of power in the state come 2015

The Peoples Democratic Party Tuesday said President Goodluck Jonathan will make his intention concerning 2015 known soon. The party said it would be difficult for the President to ignore numerous calls on him to contest for the Presidency in 2015. National Secretary of the party, Dr. Wale Oladipo,stated this in Abuja when a pro-Jonathan group – House-2-House Campaign Organisation for Democracy called on the president to re-contest next year at the PDP secretariat. Oladipo said, “I am not a prophet, but I am sure as a democrat, he (Jonathan) will listen to the clarion call, and I promise that the National Working Committee will do the needful. “We will deliver your message to the National Chairman of our party, Mr. Adamu Mu’azu, members of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustee and the national convention.”
