Adebayo Rasak Daniel was caught with explosive materials within the school premises A man who was allegedly caught trying to bomb a hostel building at the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state, has been identified as a former police officer. Adebayo Rasak Daniel  was apprehended by students of the university who caught him with petrol mixed with a chemical near  Awo Hall  in the school. Rasak is said to have confessed that he was sent to destroy the building and he reportedly also claimed responsibility for a previous explosion within the school. The suspect was handed over to security officials by the students who cut his evil mission short.

  A 35year old commercial motorcyclist, Ismaila Isa, yesterday committed suicide by jumping into a pool at Onipepeye area of Ibadan. The incident which took many people by surprise attracted hundreds of sympathisers who continued to wonder why the man decided to choose death as an option. The owner of the motorcycle said the deceased was not owing him, that he always gave him the agreed amount at the end of each days work. According to an eyewitness, before his death, the  Okada  rider used to ply Adegbayi/Alakia/Gate axis. The source said the deceased came from Adegbayi/Alakia end of the road, parked his bike and then jumped into the deep pool. Before help could come his way, he had drowned.

President Goodluck Jonathan says he needs at least $1 billion to fight the Islamic terrorist sect, Boko Haram. Jonathan sent a letter to the National Assembly on Wednesday, July 16, requesting that the lawmakers urgently approve an external loan of $1 billion to be used for acquiring equipment and to facilitate training of security officers to effectively tackle the menace of Boko Haram. Addressing their respective chambers, the letter was read to the Senate and House of Representatives by their leaders, Senate President David Mark and Speaker Aminu Tambuwal. In the letter which was titled, Tackling Ongoing Security Challenges: Need for Urgent Action, President Jonathan wrote that, You are no doubt cognisant of the ongoing and serious security challenges which the nation is facing , as typified by the Boko Haram terrorist threat. This is an issue that we have discussed at various times. For this reason, I seek the concurrence of the National Assembly for external borrow...

Security forces operating in Abuja metropolis have arrested a man who specializes in creating panic by sending out text messages threatening attack by Boko Haram terrorists. The suspect, Ugwu Lawrence who was tracked by security operatives after dispatching text messages of impending bombings of some hotels in Abuja confessed that he employed the gimmick because the management of one of the organization failed to offer him employment. The suspect further confessed that his motive was a ploy to instil fear in the mind of the managements chairman, and pleaded that he is actually not a terrorist. DefenceHQ reports that the suspect is still undergoing further interrogation preparatory to prosecution.

Abdullahi, who is also a philanthropist, paid the dowry of N20, 000 to each of the brides and provided the clothing materials for each of the brides, apart from the bed, set of chairs, room divider, ward robe, television and DVD sets and the start-up capital each couple received from him. The new couples also smiled home with bags of rice, maize, millet, cartons of Spaghetti and cooking oil while light refreshment was provided for those present at the event.
