Another bomb explosion has occurred at a market in Bauchi hours after killing 19 this morning at a bus station in Gombe. According to eyewitnesses the bomb exploded near a police outpost inside the market as traders were about closing for the day. The explosion occurred around 5:30pm and witnesses say, at least 15 people have died. Bauchi police spokesman also confirmed the explosion.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari once again blasted his rival, President Goodluck Jonathan, running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Various companies, individuals and parastatals from various sectors donated the sum during a fund raising dinner organized by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday, December 20 in Abuja. Scores of people are feared killed after an explosion ripped through a crowded motor park in Gombe town, Gombe State, residents have said. A journalist based in the state, Mallam Tildee, told PREMIUM TIMES that the blast occurred at Dukku Motor Park early Monday. Mr. Tildee said he was on his way to the scene of the blast and would be able to give casualty figure later. The spokesperson of the police in the state, Fwaje Atajiri, could not be reached for comments. A similar blast had occurred in November at the Gombe line motor park, killing scores of commuters, drivers and traders. Details later.

The Argentine town of Chivilcoy has banned all beauty pageants, saying they were racist and supported violence against women. It said they encouraged an obsession with physical beauty and illnesses like bulimia and anorexia. The town’s council said that from now on Chivilcoy’s festivities and anniversaries would be celebrated by recognising the achievements of young people. A new video from Nigeria’s home-grown Boko Haram extremists shows gunmen mowing down civilians lying face down in a dorm, and a leader saying they are being killed because they are “infidels” or non-believers. There are so many corpses the gunmen have difficulty stepping to reach bodies still twitching with life. Most appear to be adult men. “We have made sure the floor of this hall is turned red with blood, and this is how it is going to be in all future attacks and arrests of infidels,” the group leader says in a message. “From now, killing, slaughtering, destructions and bombing will be our religious duty anywhere we invade.”

The Governor of Plateau state Jonah Jang has appointed one of his sons, Yakubu Jang, as the Commissioner for Lands and Urban Planning in the state. Yakubu's appointment was announced by the state's Commissioner for Information, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar yesterday December 21st. According to the Commissioner, Yakubu who was until his recent appointment his father's special adviser on Special duties, was promoted to the office of a Commissioner following the immediate past commissioner, Yilji Gomwalk's resignation to pursue his political appointment as a running mate to the PDP Guber flag bearer in the state, Mr. Gyang Pwajok.

So on Saturday Dec. 20th, PDP Governors, Senators, Business moguls, technocrats, multinationals and others donated a total of N21.27billion to support Jonathan's re-election campaign. What happened is normal and done everywhere in the world...presidential candidates gather friends and associates to donate towards their campaign. But what I don't get is a private individual like Tunde Ayeni, the chairman of SKYE Bank donating N2billion. So, if you donate that amount to the president, is it for something you will get later from his administration or it's just goodwill?
