The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari has formally presented Yemi Osinbajo, a professor of law and former attorney general and commissioner for Justice in Lagos state, as his running mate. Making the presentation at the national secretariat of the APC in Abuja, Mr. Buhari said he sought advice from within and outside the party before making his choice. He said Mr. Osinbajo was chosen because he was a man of “impeccable integrity”.

Hassan and Umar Two Fulani herdsmen Mohammed Umar and Manu Hassan have been detained by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly robbing motorists on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Umar and Hassan, who were herdsmen from the Ngaski area of Kebbi State, were arrested by soldiers attached to the OP MESA while they were robbing some people. They were later handed over to the state Special Anti-Robbery Squad. It was gathered that three locally-made rifles and some cartridges were recovered from them.

The Supreme Court Tuesday dismissed a suit seeking to stop President Goodluck Jonathan from seeking to re-new his mandate in the February 2015 presidential election. Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, who led a five-man panel of judges struck out the appeal filed by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, from Adamawa State, Dr. Umar Ardo. The CJN held said the plaintiff brought a matter to the Supreme Court even when the same was pending before the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal. The CJN held that since the substantive suit challenging Jonathan’s eligibility to seek re-election is pending before the court of appeal, it was an abuse of the judicial process to bring same before the Supreme Court.

Rotimi Amaechi, governor of Rivers state, has revived his hopes of getting the vice-presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), launching a last-minute move to dislodge Bola Tinubu, former governor of Lagos, who had looked all set to fill the slot. Backed by Bukola Saraki, former governor of Kwara state, as well as some APC governors opposed to the candidature of Tinubu, Amaechi got the enlarged meeting of the party’s leadership in Abuja on Monday night to reset the entire selection process. The opposition to Tinubu is based on the need to avoid a Muslim-Muslim ticket, an argument that will also knock out Babatunde Fashola, the governor of Lagos, who is well loved in many parts of Nigeria.

Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo said on Tuesday that the South West zone would cast their votes massively for the Jonathan/Sambo ticket in the 2015 Presidential election. Mimiko, who was fielding questions from newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, assured that the electorate in the South West would vote for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) even if the All Progressive Congress (APC) picked its vice-president from the South West zone. “Well, we are waiting for APC to pick their (Vice-President) candidate. But there is no question about the fact that in terms of enlightenment, especially in terms of appreciation of issue of politics, in terms of a long history of progressive political engagement, you give it to South West, that they know their onions. “Don’t forget, even in 2011 when Mr President did not have any governor in the South West, he won in all the South West states apart from one; and I tell you in the South West we can see issue from propaganda.

The United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois has said it is willing to release the original certified true copies of Court papers that nailed former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu for drug crimes in the United States. Tinubu who is angling to be the Vice Presidential Candidate of the APC is threatening legal actions against Sahara Reporters which had exposed his many lies about his academic and drug crimes in the U.S.

But a document, signed by a former United States Government Narcotics Attache in its embassy in Nigeria, Andre W. Kellum, said Tinubu operated an organisation that distributed cocaine. Kellum said that though Tinubu was not subjected to criminal prosecution, the fact that he acceded to forfeiting funds to the United States Government was on its own a conviction.

General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd), Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR) was born on December 17, 1942, in the town of Daura in the former Katsina province of the then Northern Nigeria. He is happily married to Aisha Muhammadu Buhari and has eight children. He attended primary school in Daura and Mai’adua from 1948 to 1952, before proceeding to Katsina Middle School in 1953. Prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that they’d decided not to file sexual abuses charges over allegations made by Judy Huth. According to Huth, Cosby gave her beer and then forced her to perform a sex act on him in a bedroom at the infamous mansion 40 years ago. She has filed a civil lawsuit against him. Cosby’s legal team claims she’s attempting to extort the star, and unsuccessfully tried to sell her story to tabloids a decade ago, demanding money from Cosby in exchange for silence.
