Ilorin - Sen. Gbemisola Saraki and some chieftains of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara and their supporters, on Saturday, moved en masse to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Lola Ashiru, an APC chieftain in Offa, Kwara, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, also of APC and Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the governorship candidate of the CPC in the 2011 elections were among those who defected to the PDP.

Dakar - Mob violence in Central African Republic's capital has escalated to the point where crowds slay Muslims and mutilate their bodies almost daily despite the presence of thousands of French and African peacekeepers. Bangui, the capital, is engulfed in an orgy of bloodshed and looting. "We are in a moment where immediate action is needed to stop the killings," Peter Bouckaert of Human Rights Watch told The Associated Press, calling for a full-fledged United Nations peacekeeping mission. "Otherwise the future of the Muslim community of this country will be gone." Muslims make up about 15% of Central African Republic's 4.6 million people. More than 800 000 people have fled their homes - about half of those from the capital, according to the United Nations. "There are some who don't want Muslims in this country," Prime Minister Andre Nzapayeke said on local radio Saturday.

Lagos - The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), says it has sealed eight more companies for failing to remit N66.7 million personal income tax of their workers to the state government. Folasade Coker-Afolayan, Head of the Distrain Unit of the LIRS, told the media on Sunday in Lagos that the companies were sealed on Wednesday. Coker-Afolayan, who led the enforcement team, said that the affected companies’ tax liabilities ranged for periods between one year and five years.

According to the docs, Gale Harold -- who played Brian Kinney on "Queer as Folk" -- got a restraining order against Danielle Saklofsky after telling a judge point blank, "I am afraid."
