Members of the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, today kidnapped three traditional rulers—called Emirs—in Nigeria’s volatile and violence-plagued northeast. Two of the emirs were later escaped unhurt, but the third, Muhammadu Idrisa Timta, the Emir of Gwoza, died at the hands of the kidnappers. SaharaReporters learnt that Boko Haram gunmen seized the emirs as they made a trip to Gombe, the capital of Gombe State, to attend the funeral of the Emir of Gombe, Shehu Abubakar, who died last Tuesday in London.   “Boko Haram militants ambushed their [emirs’] convoy and kidnapped the traditional rulers,” a security source told SaharaReporters.  Two of the  traditional rulers who escaped were identified as the Emir of Askira, Abdullahi Askirama and the Emir Of Uba, Ismaila Mamza

Kaduna United defeat Sunshine Stars in Glo Premier League game of the Glo Premier League played on Thursday. The Crocodiles returned to winning ways after suffering a humiliating 4-0 loss to Giwa FC of Jos as the Weekend. After a goalless first-half, the Kaduna State-owned team took the lead from a penalty in the 55th minute after the referee pointed to the penalty spot, following an infringement inside the visitors’ box. Before Anthony Michael scored in the 71st minute to double Kaduna United's lead, and ultimately seal the win for the hosts. Experienced striker Dele Olorundare will rue the gilt edged chance he had to pull a goal back for Sunshine Stars later in the game, as the 'Akure Gunners' went home with no points and no goals.
