At least 23 students were killed on Monday in the Government Senior Science Secondary School in Potiskum, Yobe state today when a bomb ripped through their school as they gathered for assembly before classes, rescue workers said. “At the moment, we have 23 dead bodies in the hospital and 72 other students injured in the blast,” a rescue worker said in an account supported by a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps member. A local resident, Adamu Alkassim, said there was confusion in and around the school, after the bomb went off, triggering a scene of abandoned footwears and blood. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack but Boko Haram militants are likely to be the prime suspects.

An electoral agent of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Sikiru Ogboye was murdered on Sunday in Ibeju Lekki while he was monitoring the distribution of the new Permanent Voters Card. Hollywood star Matt Damon has confirmed that he would be appearing in next film in the Bourne franchise. Matt Damon says that the currently untitled Bourne movie will be released in 2016 and that Paul Greengrass would be returning to direct, reported E! online. Greengrass has previously directed Damon in two of the films in the Bourne franchise:The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. The upcoming film will be the third Greengrass has been involved in and the fourth Damon has starred in. The first movie Bourne Identity was directed by Doug Liman.
