If you check your follower numbers, they may have dropped too - but don't worry, your Christmas party exploits are not to blame. Instagram has been clearing up spam, inactive and fake accounts - leaving everyone looking distinctly less popular than before. Rex Features Kim didn't see the biggest drop: Justin Bieber lost 3 million followers and Harry Styles lost nearly a million, too.

Inside the secret military trial leading to death sentence for 54 soldiers

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Army’s 7 division General Court Martial convicted 54 soldiers for conspiracy to commit mutiny and mutiny and sentenced them to death by firing squad. In a trial that began in October, the soldiers, from the 111 Special Forces, were charged for disobeying a direct order from their commanding officer, Timothy Opurum, a Lieutenant Colonel, to take part in an operation to recapture Delwa, Bulabulin and Damboa in Borno State from Boko Haram terrorists on August 4. Some of the accused soldiers testified that they refused to take part in the operation following the failure of the army to provide them with the necessary support equipment. They explained that owing to a lack of equipment, they lost three officers, 23 soldiers plus 83 others suffering various degrees of injuries after their units were ambushed by Boko Haram fighters during an operation to retake the town of Bulabulin in Borno on July 9.

The fall in the price of oil has hit the world’s oil producing countries, including Russia. The fall has seen Russia‘s currency decline, and it’s stock market is now worth $325 billion. This makes it less valuable than Google, which is worth more than $340 billion. Exxon Mobile, Microsoft and Apple are other companies worth more than the Russian stock market.

American voluptuous rapper and songwriter, Nicki Minaj has landed herself new gig as the new face of the spring/summer collection for Italian Fashion designer, Roberto Cavalli. Known for exotic prints and for creating the sand-blasted look for jeans, the 74-year old over decades of years has made a name for himself from his gradual rise in his fashion career. Roberto Cavalli announced this earlier today. The campaign shoot was in Los Angeles with Italian born Francesco Carrozzini as the professional photographer. Just recently she did an October cover for L’Uomo Vogue, followed by an editorial shoot in this month’s Vogue Italia, it apparently appears like the Italians can’t get enough of this current leading lady. Of course, she is the only woman to make it to the Forbes Hip-Hop Cash Kings 2014 list (cashing in an estimated $14 million this year), she will also endorse the Made in Italy brand its eyewear and accessory line, in addition to its ready-to-wear. Police arrest robbers at Redemption Camp, others

A 26-year-old man identified as Emmanuel Olowu who was recently arrested at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God while trying to rob worshipers was paraded alongside other suspected armed robbers by the Ogun state Police command at the Force Head quarters in Abeokuta,yesterday December 18th. Parading the suspects before newsmen, the state's Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Emmanuel was apprehended with a toy gun, phones and money. Adejobi said the other suspects were arrested while carrying out robbery attacks in some towns in the state.

Oil & Gas Workers Call Off Nationwide Strike, Reach Agreement With FG

Reports reaching us reveal that the Oil workers under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Worker (NUPENG) have called off their four-day long industrial action. According to Premium Times, the National Executive Councils of the two unions agreed to suspend the strike after a long meeting on Thursday with federal government representatives which lasted till the early hours of Friday. Though details of the resolution were yet to be released, a senior national official of PENGASSAN in Abuja told reporters that the unions were able to extract “firm” commitments from the government with regards to their grievances.
