The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has posted new Commissioners of Police to Lagos, Rivers and Ogun States. Abayomi Shogunle, Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed the deployments from the Force Headquarters in Abuja. Shogunle said the development is in line with the determination of the IGP to inject fresh ideas in the security architecture in those states and other Force Headquarters Formations.

 Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president of Nigeria, has urged leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to shift from extreme positions to a centrist one in the interest of the party and the nation. Atiku, who said he will be absent at the meeting of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja on Friday, expressed regrets that the party is “torn apart at a time more energy are needed to attend to the objectives of the change agenda for which it was voted into power”.

Following resurgence of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in some neigbouring West African countries like Liberia and Sierra Leone, Lagos State government has alerted the residents on the need to take precautionary measures to prevent the re-entry of the disease in the state and the country.
