EFCC arrests Okorocha’s aides for diverting N2bn

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has uncovered a high-level fraud allegedly perpetrated by some aides to the Imo State Governor, Mr. Rochas Okorocha. To this end, the EFCC has arrested the Principal Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Pascal Obi; and two others — Uzoho Casmir and Iheoma Kenneth, who were described by the EFCC as the director of finance and treasurer. The anti-graft agency did not disclose the exact establishment Casmir and Kenneth were working for.

Naira speculators will soon burn their fingers, says CBN deputy governor

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor, Financial Sector Stability, Dr. Okwu Joseph Nnanna, yesterday said that ongoing speculative attack on the naira exchange rate will soon fizzle out. Nnanna expressed optimism that speculators will have their fingers burnt. He made the assertion at a joint Appropriation Committee of the Senate and House of Representatives, which sat yesterday to harmonise views and to engage various organs of government on the 2016 Budget.

DSS arrests Umeh, takes APGA chief to Abuja

The Department of Security Services on Thursday arrested the senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Chief Victor Umeh. A family source told our correspondent that Umeh was invited to the office of the DSS at Amawbia, Anambra State for questioning. The source said, “At about 11am, he was taken out of the DSS’s office in Amawbia) and later taken to Abuja.”

How three students were kidnapped from school – Principal

The Principal, Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School, Ikorodu, Ven. Olaoluwa Adeyemi, on Wednesday said the gunmen that seized three students of the school on Monday broke the fence to gain entry. He spoke while taking the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Idiat Adebule, and other state government officials who visited the school round the premises. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that gunmen, on Monday night, around 8:30 p.m, abducted three female students of the school, owned by the Lagos Anglican Diocese at Agunfoye-Lugbusi in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
