   The drought has dried up the massive Guri Dam in Bolivar state seriously depleting the country's ability to generate energy. Venezuela is introducing power cuts of four hours a day from next week to deal with a worsening energy crisis. The cuts will last for 40 days as the country struggles under a severe drought limiting hydroelectric output. It is the latest setback to Venezuela's economy which has been hit by a sharp fall in the price of its main export, oil.

JSE-listed and leading emerging market mobile operator, MTN, reported a mixed bag of results during its first quarter update yesterday, with subscribers decreasing 1.4 percent quarter on quarter, largely as a result of the protracted dispute with the Nigerian authorities. The company also saw its subscriber base decrease 1.7 percent in South Africa, but countries like Cameroon, Uganda and Ghana reported stronger subscriber growths of 3.1 percent, 7.8 percent and 4.6 percent respectively.

Blogger, Linda Ikeji, has explained how the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Oweseni was able to resolve the crisis between her and singer, Wizkid. Linda, in a statement released on her self-titled blog, claimed that Wizkid and his manager have been begging her to withdraw the case from the police. Though this claim is yet to be confirmed, the blogger added that she would continue to use her blog to celebrate the young star.
