Why I look sickly and gaunt — Akunyili

Photographs of her at the National Conference, making the rounds on social media, showed a very sickly Akunyili.
The Anambra delegate however denied report that she was seriously sick and currently out of the country and in need of urgent prayers.
The former minister explained that her very gaunt appearance was as a result of what she simply called a major sickness,
According to her , “While it is true that I recently came out of a major sickness, for which I thank Almighty God for delivering me, I have since been declared fit by my doctors and returned to my normal activities. I shed much weight in the course of the sickness – which is normal – but I am well now and only need time to re-grow some flesh. There is nothing to worry about either my health or my present stature.”

In a statement Tuesday, Professor Akunyili said: “This story is baseless, unfounded and the handiwork of mischief makers. It should be ignored and discarded in its entirety. As every informed Nigerian knows, I am a Delegate to the National Conference currently holding in Abuja. I was duly accredited as a Delegate and I am currently in attendance at the National Judicial Institute, Abuja, venue of the conference.
“I know that God has kept me alive for a purpose, this National Conference being part of that purpose. For the avoidance of doubt, I am well now, fit, strong enough and ready for this all-important National Conference and I look forward to collaborating with other delegates to chart the way for a better Nigeria.” she said

The remains of the female politicians, who died in a ghastly auto accident have been laid to rest at the Bayelsa State cemetery, Azikoro in Yenagoa, the state capital. President Goodluck Jonathan his wife, Dame Patience and the Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson as well as wives of the Anambra and Ekiti State Governors joined other sympathizers at a special memorial service in honour of the deceased women at the Dr. Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, in Yenagoa.

Atiku: I Did’t Join APC to Contest for Presidency

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that he did not join the All Progressive Congress (APC) so as to run for the Presidency in 2015,  but to nurture the party and ensure that good governance is entrenched in Nigeria  come 2015. Atiku who spoke in an interview with the BBC Hausa service, monitored in Kaduna on Monday,  maintained that if it were because of a  presidential ambition, he had clear chances of occupying the number one seat when he was in office with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, or even recently when he was in the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN ). He  said   he let that go in the interest of the nation. Atiku   vowed that he would never return to the PDP, saying that from all indications, the party would no longer be what it used to be.
