Striking Lawyers Shut Down Ministry of Justice

Striking lawyers of the Federal Ministry of Justice Monday morning shut down the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The lawyers barricaded the five-story complex, in addition to blocking the Shehu Shagari Way, the main road linking the Transcorp Hilton hotel and the Federal Secretariat.

This is the first recorded case of strike by lawyers in Nigeria’s Ministry of Justice.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that the lawyers had last month served the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke Bello (SAN) notice on their intention to down tools.

They had cited poor conditions of service, among other complaints.

The strike is coming barely a week after federal judicial workers suspended their strike.
