Manchester United ‘close on Nicolas Otamendi transfer, they’ll pay his £35.9m clause’

Manchester United are set to grab Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi by paying his £35.9million release clause, according to reports.

United, who have been chasing Otamendi since last summer, failed with a £25million bid during the January transfer window.

Louis van Gaal remains keen on the Argentine though – and now reports in Spain say United are set to pay his £35.9million release clause this summer to finally get him.

Valencia still remain hopeful he’d choose to stay, but would be unable to stop him from signing on the dotted line.

A strong, powerful and aggressive centre back, Otamendi is one of the best around and has been linked with Real Madrid.
