Cristiano Ronaldo Penalty, Set Up by Foul on James Rodriguez, Put Real Madrid in Driver's Seat vs. Juventus [UPDATE]

Real Madrid is one step closer to facing Barcelona in the Champions League final thanks to a penalty kick by Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star beat Juve keeper Gigi Buffon right down the middle to tie the semifinal at 2-2 on aggregate midway through the first half. If that score stands Real Madrid would advance via away goals.

The talking point will be the challenge on James Rodriguez by Giorgio Chiellini. In real time it looked like a possible dive. Watch for yourself…

This decision could have gone either way, but Chiellini definitely needs to be a lot more careful going in for a ball like that in a game of this magnitude.

UPDATE — Juventus scored a vital away goal in the second half via former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, giving the Italian club the advantage.
