FG to Buhari - Don't Tamper With Power Privatisation

The Federal Government has called on the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari not to tamper with the privatisation of the power sector.

The Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo, made the call today while addressing State House journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

He was reacting to the calls by some Nigerians on Buhari's government to review the privatisation of the power sector.

According to the minister, it would be ill-advised for Buhari's government to reverse the privatisation exercise.

Nebo said reversing the power sector privatisation would draw Nigeria "back many decade" as it would reverse the in-flow of investments into the country.

The minister said the incumbent government was already doing a lot in the power sector.
