Minister directs hospitals to sack striking doctors

The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has directed the Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) and Medical Director (MDs) of federal government tertiary health institutions to fill the vacancies created by resident doctors who have not reported for work.
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) had commenced an indefinite strike on Monday over non payment of 10 month salaries of some of its members.

A statement from the ministry signed by its spokesman, Boade Akinola, said the directive was contained in a circular signed by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Dr. Amina Shamaki to heads of federal tertiary health institutions yesterday
