Gunmen attack Agip employees, kill two

Unidentified gunmen operating along the waterways of Nembe, Nembe local government area of Bayelsa State, have killed two employees of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC).

The Nation gathered that the employees were killed on Thursday.

A boat conveying five of the workers reportedly left Obama Flow Station in Nembe for Akemplai jetty when it came under attack.

Although the mission of the Agip workers could not be verified, some persons claimed that they were returning to their base after repairing damaged pipelines when the gunmen attacked them.

A security source said the gunmen on sighting the speedboat conveying the workers opened fire on it.

He said three of the workers were rescued, while two others were declared missing.

According to him, it was not clear if the two missing persons were killed or taken hostage by the hoodlums.
