The Federal Government has called on the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari not to tamper with the privatisation of the power sector. The Minister of Power, Chinedu Nebo, made the call today while addressing State House journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Agbaje THE Lagos State National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal commenced sitting with a warning to lawyers that the tribunal would not tolerate strategies aimed at delaying expeditious hearing and determination of petitions before it. The Chairman, Justice Sylvanus Oriji on Tuesday ordered lawyers not to delay hearing at the inaugural sitting of the tribunal which has Justices K. Dabo and Kadi Yusuf as members.

Inmate Sues County For Sexual Harassment By Two Female Wardens Who Lost Their Jobs

A prison inmate who had sexual romps on various occasions with two female workers at the prison is now suing the county for sexual harassment. Meanwhile the two female workers have lost their jobs, and one is now herself languishing in jail. The NY Daily News put it so nicely by saying that it wasn’t just the former jail workers who are getting screwed. Now the county might have to pay up for charges of sexual harassment after the many and various incidents in the supply closet of the Washington County Jail.

Bill To Fight Desertification Passes Second Reading

A bill seeking to give legal backing for the establishment of an agency to address problems of land degradation and desertification has passed second reading in the Senate. The National Agency for the Great Green Wall Establishment bill received vast support from federal lawmakers at Wednesday’s plenary session. The Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba had made a statement on the direct effects of climate change on Nigeria and food security in the country.
