X Factor boss Simon Cowell reveals his biggest fear is returning to show and 'not being relevant'
Reality boss also slammed talent show judges who have not been at the top of the industry, claiming that they are just a 'judge for hire'
Simon Cowell revealed his big fear was “no longer being relevant” as he prepared to return as an X Factor judge on ITV next weekend.
And he blasted judges on talent shows who do not have their own hits or manage big stars as “idiots”.
Cowell, 54, said: “Whether I’m liked is immaterial. The only thing that bothers me is whether or not I am relevant any longer.”
Then ignoring the recent track record of fellow judges Louis Walsh and Mel B, he said: “If you’re on these shows and not having hit records or hit artists in your real life, you look a bit of an idiot.
“You’re just a judge for hire. I couldn’t do that.”
But Cowell is less brutal if partner Lauren Silverman asked him if she looked good in an outfit. He told US station AXS: “I just say yes.”
