The sun was setting on Mustique’s Macaroni Beach. The bride wore a stunning white dress fitted with a long, silky train. The couple shared a most passionate kiss.
Pastor Devon R Ollivierre said: “They seemed very in love, the atmosphere was incredibly captivating – even if I didn’t know who she was.”
In fact, she was singer and X Factor personality Cheryl Cole, 31. And the local Baptist leader had just married her last Monday to French playboy Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, 33.
Pastor Devon, speaking from his home on the neighbouring Caribbean island of Bequia, said: “I married Cheryl last week. She was wearing a white dress with a train and her husband was wearing black pants and a white shirt.
“They looked incredible. It seemed intense. There were no tears and they didn’t seem nervous, it was very natural.
"With the way they were dressed, the white sand and the way they were speaking to each other, it was lovely.
The service lasted 30 minutes – and Cheryl’s mum Joan plus the star's PA Lily England looked on during the hush-hush nuptials.
Pastor Devon said: “It was like a church ceremony on the beach. They seemed very in love the way they were reacting in front of me. The vows were short and at the end of the ceremony they kissed, there was a lot of passion.
“After the wedding, Cheryl said she had a great time. But there was no singing.
“I came to understand she was a singer but I didn’t know who she was. She told me she just wanted something modest.”

Pastor Devon is the head of the Spiritual and Baptist organisation of St Vincent and the Grenadines.
He continued: “All the things about God were in the ceremony, they didn’t ask to take anything out. They would say what I asked them to repeat – and at the end of the service, they said, ‘So help me God’.
“There is a part where you bless the bride and groom. I touched their foreheads with my finger and prayed.
“I am not concerned about people being famous or not famous, I am just concerned about people being married and staying together.
“I love to know the weddings I do are for that. It was a very special day.”
After the ceremony, Cheryl and her groom went off to spend the night at the Cotton House, Mustique’s top-rated hotel – while Pastor Devon took a tiny boat the 10 miles back to his home on Bequia.

He added: “I did not stay for the reception. Normally I just go for the ceremony and then I leave, even if I have been invited to stay.
“I have done a lot of weddings, I’ve been doing it for about more than 20 years.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said that he did not join the All Progressive Congress (APC) so as to run for the Presidency in 2015, but to nurture the party and ensure that good governance is entrenched in Nigeria come 2015. Atiku who spoke in an interview with the BBC Hausa service, monitored in Kaduna on Monday, maintained that if it were because of a presidential ambition, he had clear chances of occupying the number one seat when he was in office with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, or even recently when he was in the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN ). He said he let that go in the interest of the nation. Atiku vowed that he would never return to the PDP, saying that from all indications, the party would no longer be what it used to be.
