Fintiri returns as Adamawa Speaker

The former acting Governor of Adamawa State, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, has vowed that “the legislature, as the defender of democracy, will exercise its constitutional duties of ridding Adamawa of bad governance once again without hesitation”.

Fintiri stated this during the plenary session on Tuesday when he addressed members of the state House of Assembly on his resumption as the Speaker.

Presiding over the day’s plenary, the returnee Speaker told the members that “as I happily resume my duties, as the Honourable Speaker once again after a brief but action-packed stint as the acting Governor of Adamawa State, I thank honourable colleagues for the overwhelming co-operation I have enjoyed as your ambassador in the executive arm”.

He thanked them for their personal sacrifices and immense pressure that they had put to ensure that “our democratic intervention against bad governance and administration succeeded in line with the popular demand of the people of Adamawa State”.

The former Acting Governor commended the members for passing a vote of confidence in him as a worthy representative as well as their resolve to rescue Adamawa State.

“As a law abiding citizen and the number one law maker, I have taken events that occurred in the last couple of days in my studies and pledge to stand by the truth no matter the blackmail and intimidation,” he asserted.
