If you thought the cramped seats of your favourite budget airline were bad, check out these skimped seat designs
Airbus
The cattle truck of tomorrow
Air travel is about to get a whole lot more uncomfortable, judging by these seat designs.
The latest drawings, recently submitted for patent in Europe by Airbus, have been stripped bare of all luxuries. And let's face it, there weren't that many to begin with.
The new seats - put forward by the France based Airbus Operations - have no tray table, no headrest and very little legroom.
The bicycle seat design is supposed to reduce the bulk of traditional airline seats allowing more passengers to be squeezed on-board. Fastened to a vertical bar, the chairs are designed to fold up when not in use.

Plans: Airbus have put forward the plans in a patent application submitted in Europe
“In effect, to increase the number of cabin seats, the space allotted to each passenger must be reduced,” the patent application states, according to the New York Post.
The document also acknowledges, however, they would offer passengers less comfort and would only be suitable for short-haul flights.
Perhaps this will be one patent application sent back to the drawing board? We can only hope.
The seats look like something out of a Star Wars prequel
As any aircraft geek will tell you, the tyres on a plane are filled with nitrogen.
Well clearly the airhead numpty who came up with this seat plan idea has been sniffing the nitrogen and gone round the bends.
Even the famously financially enterprising Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary wouldn't touch this with a €5.50 in-flight ham and cheese panini.
To me it looks like the transport seating the Droid Army uses during the battle scenes from the first of those rubbish Star Wars prequels.
So perhaps that's how the design Sith over at Airbus see us passengers - mindless automatons who'll just in any old seat.
Well as far as I'm concerned they can stick it up their Darth.
