Skales Leaves EME After Record Label Refused To Renew His Contract

Skales who was signed onto Banky W’s EME  record label  in 2010 has parted ways with them. His contract with EME recently expired but the record label refused to renew it with him. According to a source, the label has spent so much on Skales, but are yet to see great returns. Though Skales is still with M.et.tal management, who manages some of the artistes under EME, he has got  nothing to do  with them legally. It will be recalled that, Skales and Wizkid were signed at the same time to EME  (Today) - Rapper, Skales has officially bowed out of the EME.Report says the rapper’s contract with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment will not be renewed. His contract expired a few weeks ago...

Boko Haram attacks Nigerian Army General’s house in Buratai, Borno; kills soldier

A soldier was on  Tuesday night  killed in Buratai Village of Borno State during a shootout as gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram attacked and torched the country home of a Nigerian Army chief, Tukur Buratai, security sources and witnesses said. Mr. Buratai, a Major General, commands the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger-Delta,  The killed soldier reportedly died trying to protect Mr. Buratai’s  country home .  According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen invaded the village at about 7 p.m. and moved directly to Mr. Buratai’s home. They opened fire on soldiers guarding the building.  “There was a serious shootout between the attackers and the  military personnel which led to the death of a soldier”, Mari Ibrahim, a businessman in the area, told journalists. 

Facebook buys WhatsApp for N3.1 trillion ‬

WhatsApp Co-founder becomes a member of Facebook’s board. ‪Social networking giant, Facebook, has bought messaging app, WhatsApp, in a deal worth a total of N3.1 trillion in cash and shares. It is Facebook’s biggest acquisition to date and will see WhatsApp’s Co-founder, Jan Koum, become a member of Facebook’s board of directors. The deal includes N656 billion in cash and approximately N1.9 trillion worth of Facebook shares, plus an additional N492 billion in stock to WhatsApp’s founders and employees at a later date. “We’re excited and honoured to partner with Mark and Facebook as we continue to bring our product to more people around the world,” Mr. Koum said in a statement.

Boko Haram: I won’t reply presidency – Governor Shettima

Borno Governor, Kashim Shettima The governor briefed the  president  on the Bama attack. The Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday, said he would not reply the presidency on the latter’s statement accusing the governor of falsehood and ignorance. The presidency, had on Tuesday, through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on  Public Affairs , Doyin Okupe, berated the Borno governor for suggesting that the members of the Boko Haram were better armed and motivated than Nigerian soldiers battling the insurgents in the North East. Mr. Shettima had made the statement on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, after briefing President Goodluck Jonathan on the recent upsurge in attacks on civilians in Borno by the Boko Haram.

Olubadan attacks Jonathan, Governor Ajimobi, over visit to Alaafin

President  Goodluck Jonathan The visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, has angered a leading Yoruba monarch, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Samuel Odulana Odugade, who has now issued a strongly-worded statement, describing the trip as an affront and a ridicule of the Ibadan chieftaincy institution. President Jonathan had on February 15 embarked on a royalty shuttle to Kano, Oyo, Ile-Ife and Lagos during which he visited the Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero; the Alafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi III; the Ooni of Ife, Okunade Sijuade; and the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu. The reasons for the visits are unclear. But there are speculations that they were part of the president’s political consultations ahead of the forthcoming  National Conference  and the 2015 presidential election. Hayatou to host Maigari on Friday

The President of the Confederation of  African  Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, will on Friday play host to NFF president Aminu Maigari in Cairo. The African football supermo has invited Maigari along with the Presidents of the four other Federations whose national teams  will be representing the continent at this summer's FIFA World Cup, to a special meeting in the Egyptian capital.

The men had both received death sentences in 2009 for spying and the killing of their Congolese driver - charges which they denied. The UK Foreign Office said it was "very concerned about Mr French's welfare". A spokesman said the government would continue to make the "appropriate representations" to the DRC authorities about Mr French's case.
