Acting Governor of Taraba, Alhaji Garba Uma No fewer than 20 people were reportedly killed, 85 injured and 50 houses razed down in Nbishu and Wumban villages in Wukari local government area of Taraba State when unknown gunmen invaded the villages. A resident of Wumban village, Mr Jeshua Maude, who spoke to newsmen, said that the unidentified gunmen numbering over 60 invaded the two villages about 3:25am on Friday and Sunday mornings and engaged in shooting and burning of houses. Maude confirmed the incident, noting that over 20 people were killed by the attackers.

According to the arrest affidavit, Kenyetta Foxe, 28, works for the Tennessee Department of Correction at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. Foxe allegedly admitted to sleeping with the same inmate on two different occasions. The inmate, Michael Daniels, 28, was sentenced to prison in 2008. According to ABC affiliate, WTVC, Daniels is considered one of Chattanooga’s most notorious gang members. Daniels is serving a life sentence, plus 23 years for the 2006 death of Adrian Patton. During his 2008 trial, the jury decided Daniels ordered fellow Skyline Bloods gang member Timothy Evans to carry out the hit against Patton. Daniels is eligible for parole in 2072. Boko Haram’s leader said he has created an Islamic caliphate in a northeast Nigeria town seized by the insurgents earlier this month, in a video obtained by AFP on Sunday. “Thanks be to Allah who gave victory to our brethren in (the town of) Gwoza and made it part of the Islamic caliphate,” Abubakar Shekau said in the 52-minute video. He declared that Gwoza, in Borno state, now has “nothing to do with Nigeria”. “By the grace of Allah we will not leave the town. We have come to stay,” said Shekau, who has been designated a global terrorist by the United States and sanctioned by the UN Security Council. The United Nations humanitarian office (OCHA) earlier this month confirmed reports that Gwoza was under rebel control.
