Full Ministerial List, Saraki Confirms Amaechi, Fashola, Ngige

The Senate on Tuesday, October 6, commenced the reading of persons in the ministerial list submitted to it by President Muhammadu Buhari. Confirming this on its Twitter handle, the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) reports that Rotimi Amaechi, Fashola, Lai Mohammed, Chris Ngige, Abubakar Malami, Audu Ogbe and Danbazau are all in the ministerial list.

I had the privilege, together with many leaders from across Africa, of bearing witness to the first peaceful, democratic transition of power between two parties in Nigeria. I traveled to Lagos earlier this year to emphasize that for the United States, Nigeria is an increasingly important strategic partner with a critical role to play in the security and prosperity of the region. I also said that it was imperative that these elections set a new standard for democracy across the continent.

Police Arrest 2 Female suspected bombers in Abuja

More than 15 plain clothes police operatives arrested two female suspected terrorists yesterday. The incident occurred around 10.30am at the Gwarimpa Estate, CITEC end of the pedestrian bridge at the CITEC Junction Bus Stop, when the operatives stormed the spot where the two girls aged between 16 and 18, were standing as if waiting for somebody, and arrested them. The two girls wearing hijab, but not covering their faces, were waiting under the pedestrian bridge when they were both arrested.

Lagos-based constitutional lawyer, Fred Agbaje has urged the incoming ministers to learn from the ongoing trial of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke. Diezani is being tried in the United Kingdom (UK) by Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) for alleged bribery and corruption-related charges. In an interview with Daily Independent, Agbaje said Diezani’s trial was a manifestation that the war against corruption spearheaded by President Muhammadu Buhari was gaining ground and that looters of the nation’s patrimony would not escape justice.
