A woman in Serbia was killed while having sex when a passing train decapitated her. She was on top of the man as the train neared the Zaudinsky Trans-Siberian railway station in the suburbs of Ulan-Ude, according to The Serbian Times. "Right then, the speeding train torn her head off,” a source told the paper. "Had she remained in her previous position, she would have stayed alive. The man survived." Both people involved in the incident, which took place in Ulan-Ude near the Zaudinskaya railway station, were drunk and homeless at the time of the accident.

The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Ltd., has appointed Mr Tony The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Ltd., has appointed Mr Tony Attah as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, according to a statement Mr Kudo Eresia-Eke, NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations on Thursday. Attah takes over from Mr Babs Omotowa, who had held sway in the organisation since December, 2011. He said that Omotowa would return to Shell International in The Hague, ‎Netherlands. According to him, Omotowa is leaving the NLNG in a stronger position and well positioned for the next chapter of the company’s growth. Eresia-Eke said that Attah, prior to the appointment had worked at Shell’s Group Integrated Gas business as Senior Projects Advisor, working on projects in The Netherlands and Singapore.

The investigative panel set up by the House of Representatives to probe the alleged sex scandal involving three members of the House on Thursday shifted hearing on the matter to July 20. The trio of Hon. Mohammed Garba Gololo (APC, Bauchi), Hon. Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and Hon. Mark Gbillah (APC, Benue), who were among 10 legislators invited by the United States Government to a leadership training programmed in Cleveland, Ohio, were accused of engaging in illicit sexual activities by the U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle. Gbillah’s wife, Sophia, was seen at the hearing with a baby on Thursday. The U.S ambassador, who was invited by the House members to testify on the matter, was consciously absent at the hearing.

Enugu government retires 1,087 civil servants

The Enugu State Government said that it would compulsorily retire no fewer than 1,087 of its civil servants over cases of age-falsification and ill-health. The state Commissioner for Information, Dr Godwin Udeuhele, told newsmen on Thursday in Enugu, the state capital, that this was part of the outcome of the state executive council’s meeting.

3,916 ghost workers in Enugu State LG system discoverd

  A local government audit panel set up by the Enugu State government has discovered nearly 4,000 ghost workers in the 17 local government councils. Ugwuanyi The panel which submitted its report to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi stated that 3,916 workers whose names were in the payment vouchers could not be traced, adding that this would save the state about N161, 494, 570 monthly or N1.938 billion annually. The Chairman of the panel and Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi, who presented the report, said that the money would be the difference in the wage bill now that the exercise had been completed. Ubosi said: “From the above, N64, 882, 033 and N96, 612, 337.20 from local government staff gross salaries and teachers’ salaries respectively should be regarded as monthly savings.”

Super Eagles drop nine places in FIFA ranking

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have dropped a distance nine places in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday by the world football governing body. Nigeria is now ranked 70th in the world for the month of July as against June’s 61st spot. The Super Eagles also dropped five places on the continent of Africa, moving to 17th position from the 12th place occupied on June. Algeria held on to the top spot in Africa despite making no move in the July ranking. Ivory Coast took a step up globally to occupy the 32th position and seating on the 2nd spot on the continent. A social-political group, the South West Coordinating office of Stand Up for Nigeria, SUN, in a solidarity rally in major parts of Lagos, South-west Nigeria, has reaffirmed the unity of Nigeria and the belief of the citizens in President Muhammadu Buhari and his administration. Members of the group distributed pamphlets across Ikeja, Opebi, Allen Avenue, Lagos State House of Assembly and the Lagos House.
