Navy destroys 50 illegal refining camps, 150 drums of diesel in Delta

 The Central Naval Command (CNC), in Yenagoa, on Sunday destroyed 50 illegal oil refining camps and 150 drums of locally refined diesel at Asiagbene in Delta. The CNC conducted the operation in collaboration with Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS), in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta. Real Admiral Apochi Suleiman, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, accompanied by Commodore Sule Aliyu, NNS chief in Delta, said that the largest illegal refinery in the region was discovered during the raid.

NNPC records N378bn loss in 8 months

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has announced a loss of N378.49 billion in its operations for the first eight months of the year. One of NNPC’s subsidiaries, the Products and Pipeline Marketing Company Limited, PPMC, accounted for majority of the losses, as it spent over N300 billion on subsidy and in the repairs and management of its pipelines between January and August. In the figures presented by NNPC’s Monthly Financial and Operations Report for August, obtained over the weekend, NNPC posted a loss of N60.669 billion and N51.714 billion for the months of July and August, respectively.

Police nab 6 of Falae’s abductors in Ondo, Ekiti, Niger

Olu Falae Six of the suspected Fulani herdsmen, who kidnapped the former Secretary to the Federal Government of Federation and Finance Minister. Chief Olu Falae, have been arrested and an unspecified amount of the N5 million ransom recovered from one of them. Vanguard gathered that the six abductors, were apprehended at separate locations in Niger, Ondo and Ekiti states, by a team of Special Intelligence Squad, deployed by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase.

Dangote to build cement plants in 18 African countries

The Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has said the firm would build cement plants in 18 African countries, including Nepal in Asia to make the continent import-dependent free. A statement by the company on Sunday said Dangote made the announcement at the commissioning of 3.0 million metric tonne per annum (MTPA) cement plant at Mgao Village, Mtwara, Tanzania. He said the entire Africa firms, which would produce more than 80MTPA of cement, was to make Africa an export continent rather than import-dependent .
