Yemen president returns to Aden after six-month exile

AFP Photo BURKINA Faso coup leaders agreed to return to their barracks and said they would restore the deposed president to power, signing a deal with the army that apparently defuses a tense standoff sparked by last week's putsch. The breakthrough came late Tuesday after marathon talks in Nigeria's Abuja, where west African heads of state had sought to break the impasse fuelled by angry threats on both sides.

Instagram is celebrating passing the 400 million user milestone

It’s official, the number of Instagram users has passed 400 million – more than the population of the US and UK combined. At least 100 million of those users signed up in the last nine months, three-quarters of whom live outside the US and more than half live in Europe and Asia. The milestone means Instagram has comfortably surpassed Twitter in popularity, which had 316 million users this year, according to its website.

The shops inside a bustling technology mall in the southern Shenzhen city do not openly display fake iPhone 6S at their counters. But at one mobile phone stall, the sellers went to their inventory to fetch two fake iPhone 6S's when Reuters reporters requested them on Sept 21. The trip to fetch them took about half an hour.

Kenyan security agents have found an unspecified amount of weapons and drugs on a Norwegian-flagged ship they intercepted last week, a senior police officer said. East Africa has become a key export route for Afghan heroin destined for Europe. Coastguards and navies from the region, short of funds and anti-trafficking expertise, have struggled to stem the flow of drugs through their waters. Kenyan authorities boarded the Hoegh Transporter, owned and operated by Norway's Hoegh Autoliners, last Thursday saying it was suspected of carrying drugs and firearms.

Although Oshiomhole was absent, four members of the electoral panel were present in the election held amidst tight security with AIG Felix Adeniake in attendance. Sylva, who was declared winner by a member of the APC electoral Committee, Nelson Alabar, recorded a total number of 726 votes to defeat closest rival, and former member of the House of Representative,Hon. Warman Ogoriba ,who recorded only 10 votes.
