 Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage’s husband, Teebillz, has reportedly tested negative for hard drugs. This disclosure was made known by cool FM’s On-Air Personality, OAP, Freeze, on his Instagram account @daddyfreeze on Wednesday. He wrote: “This comes from an unconfirmed source who saw them at a lab in VI. “Furthermore, an insider who chose to remain anonymous, said he tested negative to cocaine and every other hard drug. “We should continue to keep them in our prayers as we await a proper confirmation from his camp,” the OAP added. It would be recalled that The NET had earlier reported that sources close to Teebillz revealed they were working to help him recuperate and get rehabilitation.

  In an open disclosure of his encounter with the abductors of the former minister of state for education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has said he as well as the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and other top security heads were threatened for getting involved in the mission to rescue the former minister. Speaking on the incident yesterday, the governor said, “They even said because I got involved they increased the ransome from N100 million to N200 million. They insisted from the second day that their ransom was N200 million. They said they had wanted to collect N100 million and I told them that they would face the law, and that it was in their interest to release her.”

Police nabbed for diesel theft‚ hijacking

The policemen‚ who are based at the Brighton Beach police station in Durban‚ are expected to appear in court soon. SAPS spokesman Major Thulani Zwane said they were arrested on Wednesday morning after an investigation into a truck hijacking in Rossburgh‚ in the south of Durban. The driver of the truck was attacked by three men‚ stuffed into the boot of a car and dumped about 40km away in Umbumbulu.

A well-known and strict judge in a regional area of Brazil issued a court order banning WhatsApp for 72 hours in the whole country on Monday, because of problems he was having getting information from the company that owns the app. That company is Facebook, which bought the app for US$19bn in 2014, and it was allegedly not cooperating by handing over data from customers in a drug-running case that the judge was presiding over.

  In response to the directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to deal decisively with the rampaging Fulani herdsmen, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has vowed not to tolerate excuses from any armed group to unleash mayhem on innocent Nigerians. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, gave this warning yesterday in Abuja during a meeting with the leadership of Miyatti Allah Cattle Breeders Association. Olonisakin who was represented by the Director of Defence Administration, Maj-Gen. Fatai Ali, said the recent killings involving herdsmen in local communities in many parts of Nigeria, have become a source of concern to the security agencies in particular and the federal government.

Senate okays death penalty for kidnappers

  THE Senate, yesterday, agreed to begin a process for the enactment of a law that would prescribe capital punishment for kidnappers across the country. The Senate also asked state governments to enact laws that would prosecute kidnappers and other crime-related offences in their jurisdiction and recommended that the Inspector General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, in particular as well as other security agencies be encouraged to do more. These resolutions of the Senate were sequel to the consideration of a report of the Joint Committee on Police Affairs, National Security and Intelligence in respect of a motion on the unfortunate recurrence of kidnapping and hostage-taking in Nigeria, entitled, “A National Wake-Up Call.

  The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said the migration from analogue to digital broadcasting is a new dawn that will revolutionize television broadcasting in the entire West African sub-region. Alhaji Mohammed stated this in Abuja on Wednesday while addressing journalists on the roll-out of the pilot phase of the Digital Switch Over (DSO) in Jos, Plateau State, on Saturday. He said that with this development, television broadcasting will no longer be the same. “As I said earlier, the Digital Switch Over (DSO) roll-out last Saturday was nothing short of a revolution in broadcasting. The DSO is an evolving media landscape that affects us all and how we receive, watch, monetize and develop television and production going forward. Therefore, what happened in Jos at the weekend is momentous, the dawn of a new era for Government, TV Channels, Producers, Advertisers and, most importantly, the Nigerian TV customer,” Alhaji Mohammed said.

Getty Images The Supreme Court in Italy on Monday overturned the conviction of a homeless man from Ukraine, who was caught stealing food from a store in Genoa in 2013 and ruled that "stealing small amounts of food out of necessity is not a crime". According to The Telegraph report, the unusual judgment was made in the case of a homeless man, Roman Ostriakov, who was caught trying to steal two pieces of cheese and a pack of frankfurter sausages worth four euros (£3.15) from a supermarket in Genoa, in Italy's northwest, in 2011. The Rome-based Cassation (appellate) Court on Monday ruled that man was driven by necessity to take a small quantity of food, Fox News reported.

The Finnish security expert found a trick that would allow anyone to delete comments that had been left by users. The boy - named as Jani in local reports that did not reveal his second name - said that the hack allowed anyone's comments to be deleted, “even Justin Bieber”.

North’s senators: Not all herdsmen are Fulani

Senators of Northern extraction yesterday warned against provocative statements that could inflame tempers in the country following the killings by herdsmen in Nimbo, Uzo-Uwani, Enugu State. They also said that the categorization of all herdsmen as Fulani is wrong and should be stopped. The Senators under the aegis of Northern Senators Forum, said that they “note and appreciate the steps that the Federal Government has taken so far to contain the problems of herdsmen/farmers clashes.” They specifically asked community leaders (including governors) “to be careful when making statements on these ugly incidences.”

  The ex-Governor of Imo state, Achike Udenwa has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly receiving N350m from the former minister of state for finance, Nenadi Usman. The EFCC arrested and quizzed Usman, who also was the campaign director of the Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign, for allegedly receiving N2.5b from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Reports also said the campaign director was the one who disbursed all the funds used during GEJ's campaign.
