Buhari: Court stops further hearing on eligibility suits

Inset: Gen. Buhari Justice Adeniyi Ademola, the judge presiding over the eligibility suits against the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Wednesday, stopped further hearing on two separate suits after plaintiffs filed notices of discontinuance before the court. Three persons had asked the court to stop Buhari from contesting the March 28 presidential election. The motions for discontinuance were filed by the plaintiffs’ lawyers on Wednesday.

NFF to announce Keshi’s assistant soon

The Nigeria Football Federation has said it will announce the assistant coaches of the Super Eagles soon. The NFF on Tuesday ended the long-drawn contract talks with Stephen Keshi after the former Eagles captain signed a two-year contract with the federation, africanFootball.com reports. However, the NFF failed to confirm Keshi’s assistants, noting that it would be done on a later date.

Jonathan to handover May 29

The Minister of Information, Senator Patricia Akwashiki , on Wednesday maintained that May 29th is the date for the handover of governance from President Goodluck Jonathan to President-elect, Gen. Muhammudu Buhari. She made the clarification at the end of Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Jonathan. According to her, May 28th is just for the inaugural dinner.

The head of BBC Two said it is an "open book" on who might replace Clarkson Jeremy Clarkson "will be back on the BBC", according to the head of BBC Two and BBC Four. Kim Shillinglaw, who has the task of finding Clarkson's replacement after he was dropped from Top Gear, said the host had not been banned by the BBC. "It's serious and unfortunate what happened but there is no ban on Jeremy being on the BBC," she said.

Oluwabunmi Ajelero Twenty-four hours after she was kidnapped from her parent's church in Lagos, three-year-old Oluwabunmi Ajelero was rescued in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, and has since been reunited with her family. This is just as another teenager, one David Olupitan, who was kidnapped from his parents’ residence at Mile 2 Estate area of Lagos, on Monday night, was found yesterday evening.

NLC no longer has credibility – Oshiomhole

Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole has expressed disappointment with leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), saying that the union no longer have credibility. Oshiomhole, a former president of the NLC stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the leadership of the NLC in Abuja. He said most Nigerians have the belief that the NLC had gone to sleep in the last eight years. He challenged the NLC to set economic agenda for the incoming government to protect the interest of Nigerian workers.
