British architects to design Qatar World Cup final stadium

Renowned British architects Foster and Partners was named on Monday as the designer of the stadium that will host the final of the controversial Qatar football World Cup in 2022. The 80,000 seater stadium will be built in the purpose-built city of Lusail, some 15 kilometres (10 miles) north of the capital Doha. The stadium will be the centrepiece of a huge $45 billion (38 billion euro) construction project which will see an entire new city rise from the desert in time for football’s biggest tournament in seven years’ time.

Five killed in stabbing at house in Sumoto, Japan

Five people have died in a stabbing attack in the western Japanese city of Sumoto, local media report. A 40-year-old unemployed man was arrested for allegedly attacking the victims at a farmstead early on Monday morning, according to police. Japanese media have named the attacker as Tatsuhiko Hirano. Reports say he was found with blood on his clothes and initially admitted to the killing.

China trade surplus hits new record as exports grow

Premier Li Keqiang has announced a lowered growth target of around 7% China's monthly trade surplus hit a record $60.6bn (£40.3bn) in February, as exports grew and imports slid back. Exports were up 48.3% year on year to $169.2bn, and imports dropped by a fifth to $108.6bn, said the country's General Administration of Customs.

Nkululeko Habedi, known as Flabba, 38 died, in his home in Alexandra, a Johannesburg township. Police have told the BBC that his girlfriend will be charged with murder and will appear in court "within 48 hours".
