Thicke, who became a household name for the track and the song’s producer, Oscar-nominee Pharrell Williams, have been ordered to pay out nearly £5million to the Gaye family after a jury found that the hitmakers had infringed on the late star’s copyright for the 1977 song. Thicke and Williams now have to pay £2.67 million in copyright damages plus profits attributable to infringement, which for Thicke was determined to be £1.2million and for Williams was determined to be £1.1 million.
