China offers $15million Agric support to Nigeria

China has offered $15 million agricultural assistance to Nigeria for the establishment of 50 Agricultural Demonstration Farms across the country. The offer was made by Chinese President, Xi Jinping in response to President Muhammadu Buhari’s desire to make Nigeria self-sufficient in food production, on Tuesday in Beijing after talks between Nigerian delegation and high-ranking Chinese government officials . President Buhari had at the talks welcomed China’s readiness to assist Nigeria in her bid to rapidly industrialize and join the world’s major economies.

MTN - EVERYTIME YOU FOUL, EVERYTIME YOU PAY There was a mild drama yesterday when Adebayo Shittu, minister of Communication Technology, distanced the ministry from the negotiation deal which culminated in the payment of N50bn by MTN Nigeria Limited instead of N1.04trn fine imposed on the telecommunications giant by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) for SIM deactivation defaults. According to Leadership, Abubakar Malami (SAN), minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, also denied entering any agreement so far with MTN over the fine.

NNPC‎ deploys 240 truckloads of petrol to Abuja

The Fuel supply and distribution situation has drastically improved in Abuja and its environs as the long fuel queues is gradually easing out following the increased truck out from 186 to 240 trucks on Tuesday. Gridlock caused by customers at the NNPC Mega-Station, Kubwa Express. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, and its downstream subsidiary Nigerian Products Marketing Company, NPMC, said in a statement that twelve cargoes laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) otherwise known as petrol are currently discharging in Lagos, Calabar and Port Harcourt ports in order to wet the nation with robust supply and distribution of petrol.

Before the parade of the suspect, identified as Ardo Ayuba, at the police command, the Commissioner of Police, Shaba Arkali, said the plan was hatched in the house of the suspect. The Panama-based law firm is at the centre of the "Panama Papers" leaks scandal that has embarrassed several world leaders and shone a spotlight on the shadowy world of offshore companies. The national police, in an earlier statement, said they were searching for documentation that "would establish the possible use of the firm for illicit activities"

Hundreds of millions of pounds of British foreign aid given to Nigeria to help combat Boko Haram terrorists is instead allegedly being used to fund a witch-hunt against opposition politicians, UK Telegraph reports. In a publication on Tuesday, Con Coughlin, UK Telegraph defence editor, said Britain committed to spending £860 million in foreign aid to Nigeria, to help support the country’s efforts to crush Boko Haram terror group, which has been responsible for a spate of outrages, including the kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls.

Senate moves to grant CCB independence

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi A Bill to amend the Act establishing the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) passed the first reading at the Senate on Tuesday as the National Assembly resumed plenary after the Easter recess. Speaking to newsmen after plenary, sponsor of the CCB Act amendment Bill, Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi (Delta North, PDP) said that it has become necessary to amend the Act establishing the CCB and its Tribunal. He said that the main aim of the amendment is to move the bureau and the tribunal away from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

FOOTBALL UEFA has approved Liverpool's request for a minute's silence ahead of the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Borrusia Dortmund. A minute's silence will be held prior to Liverpool's Europa League match against Borussia Dortmund at Anfield to mark the 27th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster. Liverpool put in a request with UEFA ahead of the second leg of their quarter-final tie and that has been approved by the competitions department.

Mr. Boniface Emenalo, who was a member of the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, has revealed why he and Mr. Farouk Lawan, collected bribe from billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola. Testifying before Justice Angela Otakula of the High Court in Lugbe, Abuja, Emenalo said “The money I collected from Mr. Otedola was meant to be an exhibit to prove that members of the ad hoc committee were being pressurised and I informed my Chiarman (Lawan) and handed over the money to him (my chairman).”
