At least 15 killed in suicide bomb attacks in north Cameroon

 Authorities in northern Cameroon say at least 15 people have died and dozens are wounded after two suicide bombing attacks. Midjiyawa Bakary, governor of Cameroon's far northern region, told The Associated Press that the attacks took place late Wednesday near the country's border with Nigeria. He said at least 50 people who were wounded in the attacks on a video club and a mosque were taken to regional hospitals.

Nigerian president's bodyguard arrested for having ties to Boko Haram

 Muhammadu Buhari. (File: AP)  A bodyguard of President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly been arrested for having close ties with Boko Haram militants. According to Vanguard , Hassan Aminu who was a personal bodyguard to Buhari, was taken into custody by security operatives to be interrogated. The presidency, however, could not be reached for comment regarding the reports.

Recovered recording and soot on wreckage is consistent with theory of a fire on board the aircraft Chris McGrath/Getty Images A black box recording from crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 showed smoke alarms had sounded on board, according to an Egyptian-led investigative committee. Soot was also found on the wreckage. "The recorded data on the device is consistent with messages of the plane’s Acars [aircraft communications addressing and reporting] system that indicate smoke in its toilet and avionics room," investigators said. Their statement also said that wreckage retrieved from the front part of the jet pointed to damage caused by heat and intense smoke: "Parts of the front section of the aircraft showed signs of high temperature damage and soot."

Over 300,000 apply for 750 EFCC jobs

No fewer than 300,000 applications were received for the 750 positions advertised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, an official has said. Its Director of Public Affairs, Mr Osita Nwaja, announced the figures in Enugu when he visited the Enugu zonal office of the News Agency of Nigeria. Nwaja said that the recruitment was segmented, adding that the first phase of the exercise ended on June 26.

Court strikes out suit challenging originality of Buhari’s WASC certificate

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday struck out a suit challenging the veracity of President Muhammadu Buhari’s academic credentials. Justice Adeniyi Ademola in his ruling said based on “Section 50(2) of the Federal High Court civil procedure rules, the matter is hereby struck out.” The ruling followed an earlier motion filed by the originator of the suit, Nnamdi Nwokocha- Ahaaiwe, asking the court to discountenance the motion.

Justice Friday Nwoke, who presided over the court on May 16 reserved judgment till today (Thursday, June 30, 2016) after taking final argument from the former NSA’s counsel, Robert Emukperuo and the federal government lawyer, Tijani Gazali.
