Fuel Scarcity: We Can’t Import Fuel Because We’re Broke- Oil Marketers

The fuel crisis situation in the country could take a while to abate as oil marketers say they are broke and can't resume importation of fuel, a Vanguard report has revealed. "The money that the marketers were paid by the Federal Government was, according to the banks, like a tip of the iceberg, compared to the huge amount the marketers owe the banks. Majority of the marketers are not able to repay their indebtedness to the banks, making it impossible for them to secure new facilities from the banks to finance fuel import," a top source in the depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association, DAPPMA reportedly said.

Chief Chukwuma Bamidele Azikiwe, first son of the late first President of Nigeria, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe has passed on. He died on Sunday night at Borromeo hospital, near their Inositol Onira, Onitsha native residence. He was aged 75. LEADERSHIP learnt that Chukwuma who ascended his late father’s traditional throne as the Owelle of Onitsha following the demise of the elderstatesman in 1995 died of respiratory complications.

PDP appears at Rivers judicial panel, demands suspension of hearing

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) showed-up at the venue of the public hearing organized by a Panel investigating recent politically motivated killings in Rivers State, demanding an immediate suspension of the hearing. The PDP members led by the Party’s lawyer, Chuma Aguma appeared before the Commission of Inquiry with an interim court order seeking to stop them from sitting pending the decision of the court on the matter.

The former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Muhammad Sanusi II), has been appointed as the pro-chancellor of the University of Benin, Edo State. Sanusi received his letter of appointment at his palace on Monday from the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau.
