Serena Stays Top Of Women’s Tennis Rankings

World’s female number one Serena Williams stays at the top of the WTA tennis rankings released Monday while Carla Suarez Navarro returns to the top 10.

US star Williams has 10,156 points, with Romania’s Simona Halep second on 7,115 and Russia’s Maria Sharapova on 6,915 in third.

Petra Kvitova remains fourth after her Madrid win at the weekend but has closed to within 245 of Sharapova. Beaten finalist Svetlana Kuznetsova gained 11 places to 18th.
Spain’s Navarro, who fell to 12th last week, has returned to 10th with Germany’s Andrea Petkovic moving up one to ninth.
