12,700 APC Members Join PDP In Kogi

A huge defection has rocked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi state ahead of the November 21 governorship election. Idris Wada, the governor of the state and PDP candidate in the poll, has visited Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu local government areas during this weekend to assure the locals of continued delivery of democracy dividends. At Ofu local government area, the home base of the aspirant of the APC, Prince Abubakar Audu, 12,700 party’s members formally deserted to the PDP.

A former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, Enyinnaya Onuegbu yesterday asked Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha to either settle down and provide real governance for the state or resign. The PDP chieftain who stated this while speaking with journalists in Owerri, the state capital, claimed that Okorocha had abandoned his duties as a governor to promote his personal political ambitions.

Ex-minister of Education Olaiya Oni Dies At 74

A former Minister of Education and pioneer Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Ondo state , Dr. Olaiya Oni , is dead. Oni, who was born 74 years ago, died yesterday after being hospitalised at undisclosed hospital in Owo local government area of the state. According to a source within the family, the former minister has been battling with health challenges since 2012 before he eventually passed on yesterday.

They came in their numbers. They came representing themselves and the state Executive Council of former Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. They came united. They came to explain their actions and inactions. They came to tell their own story of their alleged recklessness and impropriety while in power as individuals and as a group. They were the powerful men and women that called the shots under the last administration in Rivers State. Not all of them were indicted and required to refund various sums of money or be prosecuted according to the White Paper released by the state government on the Justice George Omereji–led Judicial Commission of Inquiry that investigated the sale of some state assets.

In this interview, she blamed some of government functionaries and Jonathan’s appointees for the woes the immediate past administration suffered.
