The Russian model says she ended their five-year relationship, insinuating that the Real Madrid star is unfaithful, dishonest and does not respect women Cristiano Ronaldo is not the perfect man, according to ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk, who says the Real Madrid superstar made her feel "ugly and insecure". The pair began dating in January 2010 but split up in January, with Ronaldo explaining that he and the Russian model had mutually agreed that a parting of the ways was best for both parties. However, Shayk has now intimated that it was she who decided to end the relationship, insinuating that Ronaldo is a "child" who is unfaithful, dishonest and does not respect women.

FIFA expels Zimbabwe from 2018 World Cup qualifiers over debt

Zimbabwe have been expelled from the 2018 World Cup qualifying competition for failing to pay a former coach, soccer’s governing body FIFA said on Thursday. “The expulsion comes as a result of the non-payment of an outstanding debt by ZIFA (the Zimbabwe Football Federation) to the coach Jose Claudinei Georgini following a decision passed on 15 August 2012 by the… FIFA Players’ Status Committee,” FIFA said in a statement.

Defender Demichelis Signs New Man City Contract

Martin Demichelis has signed a one-year contract extension at Manchester City, the Premier League champions have announced. The Argentine’s previous contract was due to end at the end of the current season but will now remain at the Etihad Stadium until the end of the 2015-16 campaign. “I want to say that I am really proud and happy to have extended my contract for another year. Manchester City is a club with a lot of ambition. We want to grow every year,” he told the club’s official website.

IMF approves $17.5 billion loan for Ukraine

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) handed Ukraine a $17.5 billion lifeline Wednesday as the United States agreed to send military aid to bolster its forces against pro-Russian rebels – but stopped short of promising weapons. The United States also expanded the reach of its economic sanctions, targeting a Russian bank and separatist officials in eastern Ukraine – a move Moscow branded a "political provocation" that would only worsen the crisis.

DSS restores Tambuwal’s security detail five months after withdrawal

Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who is said to have been out of Abuja for some time now, yesterday returned to meet the restoration of his security detail that has been withdrawn from him some five months ago by the Department of State Services, DSS. Confirming the development to newsmen yesterday evening, Tambuwal’s spokesman, Imam Imam, noted that only the DSS had restored its operatives earlier withdrawn from the Speaker.

UK health worker with Ebola flying back, 4 others being assessed

A British military healthcare worker who tested positive for Ebola in Sierra Leone is being flown back to Britain and four others are being assessed, officials in London said on Thursday. The unnamed healthcare worker who has contracted the disease was being transported in a specially equipped medical plane and will be treated in an isolation unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London, the country's designated Ebola treatment centre.

World will stop on May 2 – Mayweather

Floyd Mayweather said “the world will stop” when he fights Manny Pacquiao on May 2 as they were face-to-face for the last time before the weigh-in. Mayweather, who has won all 47 of his fights, told Pacquiao at a press conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday that he was not ready to taste defeat. Pacquiao had earlier said that he would beat the American for the good of boxing. The Filipino fighter has a record of 57 wins, two draws and five losses.

Troops Recapture Second Largest Borno Town From Boko Haram

After more than 48 hours of intense battle against Boko Haram fighters, Nigerian troops yesterday took over Bama, the second largest town in Borno State after Maiduguri, the state capital. This brings to 36 the number of towns that have been recaptured from Boko Haram since the commencement of a four-nation military offensive, coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri told AFP.

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday barred further broadcast of defamatory documentaries on the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, by theAfrican Independent Television. Justice James Tsoho, who made the order of interim injunction, also ordered theNigerian Television Authority and any other broadcast station under the control of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, to stop airing similar videos forthwith.

Diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Morocco worsened Tuesday as the North African country announced the immediate recall of its ambassador from Abuja, following a statement by the Nigerian government that the Moroccan monarch did not snub President Goodluck Jonathan as widely reported last week. King Mohammed VI turned down a request by Mr. Jonathan for a telephone conversation and possibly, an invitation to Nigeria, describing the move as “inappropriate”.
