Germanwings crash: Second Alps flight recorder found

Search teams have spent days scouring the crash site for the second flight recorder The second flight recorder from the Germanwings A320 jet that crashed in the French Alps last week has been found, the Marseille prosecutor has said. The voice recorder was found almost immediately at the site of the crash on 24 March. Recordings taken from the first "black box" suggested co-pilot Andreas Lubitz had deliberately crashed the plane.

Burkina Faso Government Confirms Outbreak Of Bird Flu

Burkina Faso Government on Wednesday confirmed in Ouagadougou an outbreak of H5N1 avian flu in two regions of Kadiogo province in Centre region and Sanguie in Centre-West region. Jean Rouamba, Minister for Livestock, said the outbreak was responsible for the deaths of large numbers of chickens. The minister said tests had been carried out by the UN experts, after a wave of deaths in traditional and modern poultry farms in February and March.

Security sources say 15 soldiers and two civilians died when gunmen attacked checkpoints around the town of Sheikh Zuweid on Thursday. According to the he result of the National Assembly election declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission ,the All Progressives Congress now has the majority status in the 109 membership Senate. Before the election, the Peoples Democratic Party had the majority with 64 members while the APC has 41. Labour Party, the Accord Party and the Social Democratic Party, shared the remaining five seats.

Kenya's Garissa University College stormed by gunmen

Masked gunmen have stormed a university near the Somali border in north-eastern Kenya, killing at least two people and injuring about 30. Troops have surrounded Garissa University College and are engaging the attackers. Witnesses spoke of the gunmen firing indiscriminately and there are fears the casualty toll could rise. It is not clear who is behind the attack, but Somali al-Shabab militants have regularly targeted Kenya.
