President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, has resigned her appointment as Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Civil Service. Sources from the Ministry of Education said she voluntarily left the civil service, Punch reports. Some are however speculating she resigned because of an alleged rift between her the governor of the state, Seriake Dickson which was triggered by her unwillingness to support him for his second term ambition. The major outcome of the talks was reportedly to “mobilise all women in South Sudan to deny their husbands conjugal rights until they ensure that peace returns.”

There was pandemonium at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos on Thursday afternoon following fire outbreak in the top floor. Murtala Muhammed International Airport building on fire DailyPost reported that the inferno which occurred few hours ago covered the second floor of the terminal of MMIA, before it was swiftly put out. According to a source at the airport who didn’t want to be named, the fire started at the second floor of the terminal in the commercial department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) during a surge in electricity supply.

Rivers Assembly Grants Amaechi’s Request To Withdraw N19bn From Reserved Funds

The Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday, granted a request by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, to access and withdraw the sum of N19 billion from the reserved fund of the state. The reserved fund was established through a law of the House of Assembly in 2008, for the state government to compulsorily save the sum of N1 billion every month. All 22 lawmakers, who attended the sitting unanimously voted for the approval of the request after House Leader, Hon Chidi Lloyd called for the approval of the request, dated October 20, 2014, and addressed to the House through the Speaker, Rt Hon. Otelemaba Dan-Amachree.
