The King of Pop's signature hit 'Billie Jean' has left an unbeatable mark on 20th century popular culture. Most of us were either babies or hadn't even been born yet, and we're still very much aware of the impact Jackson had on the entertainment industry, during the 'Thriller' days of the early '80s. For a 1983 televised special entitled Motown: Yesterday, Today and Forever, a young Jackson in his early 20s performed 'Bille Jean' to an unsuspecting crowd.

Supreme Court Suspends Saraki's Trial At CCT

The Supreme Court has suspended the trial of Senate president, Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). The ruling to stay the Senate president’s assets falsification and corruption trial, was made on Thursday, November 12. A message from Saraki’s media aide, Bamikole Omishore reads: “Supreme Court Stays CCT proceedings in Saraki Case.” According to Leadership, the federal government gave an undertaking to the Supreme Court not to proceed with the criminal case against Senator Saraki, at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

Amaechi resumes as Transportation Minister, vows to complete ongoing rail projects

Newly-sworn in Minister for Transportation, Rt Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, has vowed to complete all ongoing rail projects around Nigeria. He also promised to extend rail lines to all parts of the country. Amaechi gave this assurance during his first day in office as a minister shortly after his inauguration by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on Wednesday.

Lagos festival celebrates years of publicity

The country’s most creative minds in advertising, media and marketing will be recognised at an awards dinner scheduled for Lagos next week. The outstanding personnel will be honoured during the annual Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF). The festival will kick off next Wednesday with the Young LAIFERs competition, a platform where young practitioners and budding creative talents showcase their creativity.

Myanmar's President has joined the army chief in congratulating Aung San Suu Kyi's opposition after it swept national elections, and promised a smooth transition of power. (Photo: AFP) YANGON: Myanmar said on Thursday (Nov 12) US President Barack Obama had congratulated the nation on holding "free and fair" elections, as the government and army chief promised a smooth transition of power with Aung San Suu Kyi's party edging towards victory. The country has been dominated by the military for half a century through direct junta rule and since 2011 by a quasi-civilian government run by its allies.
