Lagos festival celebrates years of publicity

The country’s most creative minds in advertising, media and marketing will be recognised at an awards dinner scheduled for Lagos next week.

The outstanding personnel will be honoured during the annual Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF).

The festival will kick off next Wednesday with the Young LAIFERs competition, a platform where young practitioners and budding creative talents showcase their creativity.

This will be followed by the LAIF Awards Seminar, which is expected to pool about 500 participants from the Marketing Communications industry next Friday.

Chairman of the LAIF Managing Board, Ikechi Odigbo, said the committee had done excellently well in planning this unique landmark of LAIF.

“We are celebrating a decade of consistency and integrity and it is our delight that the creative industry is celebrated in this manner,” said Odigbo.

A pre-award party where staff of various agencies will congregate in a relaxed environment to celebrate a harvest of ideas will precede the awards dinner.

Founded in 2006, LAIF is a brainchild of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) formerly known as Association of Advertising Practitioners of Nigeria (AAPN).

The association is the umbrella body that coordinates and promotes the interest of advertising agencies in Nigeria.

LAIF was established in line with AAAN's mission to regulate the practice of advertising among member-agencies with the aim of improving standards and encouraging symbiotic relationships among practitioners and other related bodies, in order to enhance the business environment and move the industry forward.
