Last night it was the 2014 American Music Awards in Los Angeles, and One Direction took home not one, but THREE awards at the annual music awards. PA Photos The British boy band - who performed their new song Night Changes - won Artist of the Year, Best Pop/Rock Band and Best Pop/Rock Album. On the band's third trip to the mic, Liam Payne said: "I can't believe we've won three, it's amazing, it's so cool." Taylor Swift was also honoured with a special recognition award, the newly created Dick Clark Award for Excellence, and was humbled to be presented the gong by music legend Diana Ross.

A fresh bout of political crisis may soon hit Bayelsa, President Goodluck Jonathan home state, following alleged moves by his wife, Dame Patience, to unseat Hon. Seriake Dickson, the Bayelsa State governor. Of the 36 governors, Dickson is considered one of the strongest supporters of the Jonathan administration, and is reputed to have helped build bridges of understanding between the president and his political adversaries. Jonathan’s relationship with Dickson’s predecessor, Timipre Sylva was full of acrimony, and largely contributed to hounding the former governor out of office. Governors Chibuike Amaechi and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Rivers and Edo states respectively who, are arguable the fiercest opponents of President Jonathan, are governors of two key south-south states. They both belong to the opposition All Progressives’ Congress (APC).

2015: Navy, Airforce To Monitor Elections

Jalingo – The Independent National Electoral Commission said it would engage the services of Nigerian Air Force, Navy and other security agencies for adequate security during general elections in 2015. Mr Austin Okojie, the commission’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Taraba, disclosed this while addressing Batch B corps members at NYSC Orientation Camp in Jalingo on Sunday. Okojie explained that the move was necessary given the level of insecurity in the country.

In a statement clarifying the invasion of the APC Data Center, the DSS otherwise called SSS, said a petition was received about an unholy activities in a building located at No. 10, Bola Ajibola Street, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. “The petition alleged that those behind the activities were cloning INEC Permanent Voters Card with the intention of hacking into INEC data base, corrupting it and replacing them with their own data.
