Nothing can make me cut my dreadlocks — Phyno

Image
No doubt, Phyno is coming to his own, not only by distinguishing himself as a Rastafarian with a touch of class but also by giving the hip-hop, Afrobeat guys a run for their money, in the music scene reggae guys are packing up their stuffs. Having done a collaboration with a Jamaican reggae great, Cocoa Tea, Phyno has also taken his music around the world, touring Europe and Asia, after seeing just about too much of Africa. He is a cool dude, who does everything every Rastafarian does except looking gaudy like the most of them we have seen. He’s got the dreadlocks like most and he is as crazy as the next Rastafarian about it. In a recent chat with Potpourri, Phyno revealed he has had his dreadlocks for thirteen years now and he doesn’t see how he would ever be seen without it

I avoid some female fans like plague — Timi Dakolo

Image
Timi Dakolo came into limelight after he won the maiden edition of Idols West Africa several years back. Since then, his life and career have taken a turn for the better. Recently, Esther Onyegbula caught up with Timi and he opened up on how it all started, the journey so far, the challenges, the aspirations and the future. My grandma’s death and the Nigerian Idol West Africa During the competition my grandmother who I lived with for many years before I got into the competition passed on, I was down and I wanted to quit the competition but I stayed back because of the encouragement I received from friends and fellow contestants. And I noticed that each time I went out with other contestants people would tell me not to disappoint them, and that they were voting for me. From top ten to top three and as God would have it, I  won. Timi Dakolo Unlike most celebrities winning ten thousand dollars and a brand new car, didn’t change him, he was still the same old loving, talented Ti

I’d rather be miserable than be in a relationship… — Yvonne Okoro

Image
Voluptuous beauty, half-Nigerian, half-Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Okoro, isn’t exactly the kind of damsel you would think is in distress. She has nothing on her to cut that image and it doesn’t appear her career is in danger either. If the beautifully endowed sexy actress should come under any observation, I guess the lots would be in her favour as she seems to be doing better than ever, career wise. But her post on the Instagram last week placed a huge question mark on the state of mind of the actress. The declaration “ I would rather be lonely and miserable than be in a relationship” wouldn’t pass for any woman who is fulfilled as a woman, even though the career is on the up and up. It wasn’t until further checks were run on what could have brought about that rather gloomy assertion that the whole scenario began to make sense. It turned out Yvonne’s post was an extract from a previous interview the talented actress granted on relationships. “If you give me all the attention and

Ali Baba Opens Up! ‘My wife pushes me too hard’

Image
Ace-comedian, Atuyota Akporobomeriere, a.k.a  Ali Baba,  shares the story of his eight-year-old marriage to his wife, Mary. He has always testified that marriage has brought him happiness, and fulfillment.  Their marriage is  blessed with six children, including an adopted daughter. What marriage has done to me Marriage has been good. It’s a stablising factor, it helps  one to plan properly. It also redefines your responsibility pattern. When you are a young man, you don’t have the kind of responsibility you should have as a man. For instance, if somebody says  ‘let’s go partying in Ghana,’ you are ready to storm Ghana without anything holding you back. But when you get married, you will no longer take that kind of  decision on your own. It means that a lot of  things you do  will now have to be shared with your partner. Marriage also helps you not only to reorganise youself in respect of how you want to live your life, but, more  importantly, how you spend the money that you make

2015: Fani-Kayode May Head Jonathan’s Media Team

Image
As the build-up to the 2015 election gathers momentum, President Goodluck Jonathan seems to be leaving nothing to chance as he intensifies recruitment of members of his campaign team. The latest in the recruitment drive is the overture extended to former minister of aviation Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who was recently spotted in the Presidential Villa where he had meetings with the president and later attended another meeting with the president’s chief of staff. Checks reveal that the president’s think-tank is sparing no effort at winning the support of those perceived to be averse to the president’s return to Aso Rock in 2015. “Barring all unforeseen circumstances, (Femi) Fani-Kayode is coming back to the PDP and, once this is done, he would head the media team for the presidential campaign of President Jonathan. We know he has what it takes to do the job. He had been a presidential spokesman and his influence in the media including the social media, his articulation, boldness an

Image
More than 200 people are feared dead in an explosion which rocked an outskirts of Abuja, the Nigerian capital, this morning. The explosion sounded in a highly populated motor park in Nyanya, less than five minutes drive from the Abuja city Centre. It is not clear yet how the bomb was ferried into the park, but witnesses suspect it was planted by a suicide bomber. Several dead bodies now litter the blood spattered park and the expressway leading to the city. Some of the dead victims and the injured are being taken to hospital by ambulances and vans belonging to the police, the Vehicle Inspection Office, Federal Road Safety Commission, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the National Emergency Management Agency. Our reporter counted more than 50 bodies that were yet to be evacuated. But witnesses said more than 150 bodies may have been moved before our reporter’s arrival.

2015: Tinubu Dumps Atiku …As Obasanjo Cautions On Muslim/Muslim Ticket

Image
Fresh facts have revealed that the whole idea of the extremely controversial Muslim/Muslim ticket making the rounds within the All Progressive Congress (APC),  is an agenda being pushed by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu despite push backs by high ranking members. It was learnt that even  Ex president Olusegun Obasanjo had called Tinubu and told him the move was dead on arrival. Obasanjo insisted Tinubu should push for Adams Oshimhole, Rotimi Amaechi or Rochas Okorocha to be running mate to any Muslim candidate that emerges. The former President also warned him against insisting on consensus. Moreover, it was learnt that Governors Oshiomhole, Okorocha, Fashola and Amaechi have prevailed on Tinubu to dump the idea.
