Court Gives INEC Permission To Continue Kogi Poll

Court decides on Kogi supplementary election A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, December 4 gave the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) the permission to continue supplementary election in Kogi state. Ruling on four suits filed before the court, Gabriel Kolawole said while the Federal High Court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the case, INEC should continue with the supplementary election in 91 polling units as scheduled.

Emir of Keffi dies in sleep

The Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Mohammdu Chindo Yamusa II, is dead. The Emir was said to have passed away in the early hours of Friday in his palace in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa state. He reportedly went to bed last night and couldn’t wake up. His brother, Alhaji Abubakar Gada Mohammed, Dan Galadiman Keffi, in a statement, described he demise of his brother as shocking.

NFF Have No Plans To Sack Sunday Oliseh- Amaju Pinnick

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has insisted that he has absolute confidence in the abilities of Sunday Oliseh, adding that the Federation isn't looking for a European coach to take over Super Eagles. Oliseh was hired by the NFF in July 2015 and his attack has been heavily criticised for not scoring goals, most recently, not being able to score against a lowly Swaziland, who are 130th position on the global ranking.

The ensuing actions following the demise of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi state have once again exposed the urgent need for a comprehensive review of our constitution. A recurring situation of discovering lacunas in our constitution is not good for our young democracy. At this rate, the quick fix approach we always adopt may soon eclipse our hard-earned democracy into extinction. The major issue at stake in the ongoing Kogi gubernatorial elections has thrown up three possible lines of action for the electoral commission as well as the stakeholders.
