Sean Deveney of the Sporting News noted last week the Celtics have targeted Los Angeles Clippers power forward Blake Griffin in trade talks. Deveney also indicated odds were good that general manager Danny Ainge would make a major deal this summer.

The brother of slain Pakistani model Qandeel Baloch on Sunday confessed to strangling her to death for "family honor" because she posted "shameful" pictures on Facebook. Baloch, who had become a social media celebrity in recent months, stirred controversy by posting pictures online taken with a prominent Muslim cleric. She was found dead on Saturday at her family home in the central city of Multan. Police arrested her brother, Waseem Azeem, and presented him before the media in Multan, where he confessed to killing her. He said people had taunted him over the photos and that he found the social embarrassment unbearable

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to stop acting like the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria, even as he asked Nigerians to demand the release of the authentic report of the Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Nigerian Armed Forces. In a statement issued on Sunday, July 17, by Lere Olayinka, the governor’s special assistant on public communications and new media, Fayose said that although fighting corruption is a good idea, but noted that the moment documents of probe panels are being adjusted to shield those seen as the President’s men, shows that entire purpose of the corruption fight has been defeated. Fayose said it is clear that Buhari supports corruption, following the claim by the federal government that the probe panel only looked into procurement and contracts awarded by the military between 2011 – 2015 because documents regarding procurement from 2007 to 2010 were not available, Premium Times reports.

SERAP sues FG over non-publication of looters list

Rights advocacy group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has urged a Federal High Court in Lagos to compel the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to furnish it with the names of suspected looters who had returned stolen funds. The Federal Government had, through the Ministry of Information and Culture, recently disclosed that it had recovered cash sums of N78,325,354,631.82, $185,119,584.61, £3,508,355.46 and €11, 250, among others, between May 29, 2015 and May 25, 2016. SERAP said it resorted to suing Mohammed following the minister’s failure to oblige its request to publish the names of the looters and the circumstances under which they returned the loot.

14 people wounded in shooting at Bakersfield house party

Three young men who were told to leave a Bakersfield house party returned early Saturday morning and opened fire into a crowd of more than 100 teenagers, injuring 14 people, authorities said.    The shooting occurred about 1 a.m. in the 600 block of Stephens Drive and left two people in critical condition,  said Ray Pruitt, a spokesman for the Kern County Sheriff’s Department. All of the victims are expected to survive.
