Ekiti State Government yesterday debunked rumours of an outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, in the state and cautioned against creating unjustifiable panic through indiscriminate spreading of unsubstantiated rumours about spurious cases of Ebola. This came as the government lamented the unfortunate death of a woman, who was said to have vomited and collapsed in premises of the State Ministry of Health and was rejected in four different private hospitals because of the text messages circulated by some unidentified people suspected to be in the Healthcare sector that tagged her ebola patient.

Nigeria has now recorded two new cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) from secondary contacts of the American - Liberian Patient, Mr Patrick Sawyer. Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu told journalists at a press briefing in Abuja that government cannot be sure of complete eradication. Chukwu advised that "we cannot talk of eradication so soon." He rather called for calm from public so as to avoid panic. He said the tackling of the virus which has received global applause "should let people to reduce the panic, the battle is not over but we have done very well," the minister said.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah, has allayed the fear of Nigerians living in the Southeastern part of the country over possible infiltration of the region by members of the Boko Haram sect. Creation of 18 New States 2014 National Conference: Recommended the creation of 18 new states (three per geo-political zone).. Among them are Apa, Edu, Kainji, Katagum, Savannah, Amana, Gurara, Ghari, Etiti (South East zone), Aba, Adada, Njaba-Anim, Anioma, Orashi, Ogoja, Ijebu and New Oyo. Apart from the 18 proposed states, the Conference also recommended one new states for the South East to make the zone have equal number of states with the other zones except the North West which has seven. It also recommended that states willing to merge can also do so based on certain conditions. 2005: NPRC said 36 states structure is too expensive and that the situation will become worse given the number of requests for the creation of new states some of which would need to be met for the sake of peace and stability of the economy.

Frank Mba, today exits as the image maker of the Nigeria police force, a position he held for two years. It was learnt that Mba has been reassigned to a head an area command in Lagos, The former police image maker was promoted to the rank of assistant police commissioner on June 24, 2014. He served in the administration of former inspector-general of police, Mohammed Abubakar, and he is expected to hand over to the new public relations officer, DCP Emmanuel Chukwu, on Thursday.
