NIS Recruitment Tragedy Exposes Nigeria’s Unending Mediocrity

Image
We woke up in Lagos yesterday, Saturday March 15 just like any other day, believing we will have a peaceful day. As early morning joggers moved towards the National Stadium Surulere, they were stunned into disbelief by the sea of heads of Nigerian Youths, all in white trooping to the National Stadium. It was an unbelievable sight to behold. They were later to discover that they are  job seekers  looking for 3000 jobs from Nigerian Immigration Service , NIS. In the 33 states of Nigeria, including Abuja and excluding Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States, the applicants gathered in their millions. I was told the applicants mostly youths, had certificates ranging from Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, HND, OND, NCE and  Senior School  Certificate. Each applicant paid N1000 processing fee , and if the numbers are anything to go by, we shall be talking over Six Million applicants. If you do the simple Arithmetic here, we will be getting very close to 7 Billion Naira. This is what NIS pock

I Didn’t Play A Role In NIS Recruitment Exercise..David Mark’s Wife

Image
Wife of the President of the Senate, Mrs. Helen Onma Mark, has described as a “ wicked   lie” the reports in certain media alleging that she has a link with the consultants that organized the   recruitment exercise   of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). Mrs. Mark, who expressed shock at the reports, said the rumor is a mere  fabrication  of the imagination of those behind it. It is very strange to me because I do not know the  consultant  that organized the recruitment exercise  neither did I play any role in the recruitment exercise. “I have no relationships of any sorts and in whatever form with the said consultant. This moment demands solemnity and mourning of the precious souls that were lost in the tragic  incidents  that occurred last Saturday. It is not a time to settle political  scores  and I will therefore leave those dragging my name into this painful death of our youths to their consciences and unto God. “As a mother, I honestly sympathies with the parent

CHRIS BROWN WAS KICKED OUT OF REHAB FOR REPORTEDLY VIOLATING THESE THREE RULES

Image
All  Chris Brown   had to do was follow the rules at his swanky Malibu   rehab facility . But on Friday, he was   tossed in the pokey   sans   bail   after being dropkicked from the facility, and   TMZ   says it's because he flouted a trio of rehab regulations. First up, he was allegedly ordered to stay at least two feet away from all women he encountered at the rehab center, an unusual directive issued for him alone, apparently due to his 2009 assault on Rihanna. Brown is believed to have violated the rule by "touching elbows and hands with a woman."

Malaysian airplane investigators look at suicide as possible motive

Image
The co-pilot of a missing Malaysian jetliner spoke the last words heard from the cockpit, the airline's chief executive said on Monday, as investigators consider suicide by the captain or first officer as one possible explanation for the disappearance. No trace of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 has been found since it vanished on March 8 with 239 people aboard. Investigators are increasingly convinced it was diverted perhaps thousands of miles off course by someone with deep knowledge of the Boeing 777-200ER and commercial navigation. A search unprecedented in its scale is now under way for the plane, covering an area stretching from the shores of the Caspian Sea in the north to deep in the southern Indian Ocean. Airline chief executive Ahmad Jauhari Yahya also told a news conference that it was unclear exactly when one of the plane's automatic tracking systems had been disabled, appearing to contradict the weekend comments of government ministers.
